Ilkal, a traditional handloom from Karnataka, is another ancient weaving technique that seemed to have also started in the 8th Century. The peculiar characteristic of Ilkal saree is joining the body warp with the pallu warp which is locally called TOPE TENI. This technique is only used exclusively to weave an Ilkal saree.
